This is by far my favorite app ever! Fun, useful, intuitive, excellent sound quality... I just cant say enough good things about this. Id love to see some more ethnic instruments like a duduk and a hurry gurdy. This could easily be a $100 app. Love it!!

Thumbjam is one of the first audio apps ive owned and its sounds are still top notch. If i had only 5 apps to choose from u best believe TJ is in there! Not to forget the great developer behind the curtain!

It seems like I buy every new noise gadget the IOS has to offer, but after all this time ThumbJam is still my go to. Unlike many other apps over the years the support is still there and functionality is only increasing as time goes by.

Thumbjam is great and keeps getting better. As the title says, one of the most expressive music apps on iOS. Comes with a large number of instrument samples and you can add more, and can use up to 8 samples at the same time via MIDI and drive four on the screen simultaneously too. Worth every penny and then some.

Outstanding music app. It was one of the first and it is still relevant–and fun–after many years.

iOSs FIRST Professional instrument, designed for the touch screen from its very roots. Still in my top 10 after all these years, while so many others have come and gone. This is the app that set the standard by which all pro musician apps are judged.

(v.2.5.2) the innovations keep on coming! fellow ipeople, if you like creating melodies or harmonies...or if you enjoy learning about music theory, get this app. i am now finding ways to use thumbjam as a self-study music tool. by creating a rhythm in something like Figure, and importing it into Thumbjam, i can experiment with various scales and intervals. fun stuff! (v2.5) this was the first music app i owned; thumbjam remains one app i use each time i do something creative. this latest update just shows how committed the dev is. making music with this app is easy. if you dont have it yet; get it!!

I agree with the others on here. Thumb jam is truly very good but Im only giving it 4 stars because of the layout. Im a keyboard and pianist and I, wish these guys didnt have to shy away from the keyboard layout for playing the instruments. I truly HATE THIS LAYOUT TO DEATH!! Whyd they spoil such a great app and create this stupid layout. This app would, hands down, be a 5 star app but, the absence of the piano keys make it 3 stars. I dont use it because of this flaw.

...Possibly THE best musical instrument for iOS. Insane. A couple feature requests: 1) The ability to save/reload a session, which would keep your tempo, key, scale, loops and loaded instrument intact for live performance. 2) Ableton Link!!!! Thank you so much for this app. Its been bringing me joy and helping me make music for years now.

This is by far, and has been for quite a while, one of the best and most important iOS musical instruments. Please dont let it fall to wayside!

I delayed upgrading to the next version of Thumb Jam for fear of breaking the app, and when I finally did thats just what happened. The icon is greyed out and displays "waiting..." And yet, I can open the app, but ONLY by going on the App Store and clicking the "open" button. All my creations are still there, too. Weird, huh?

Absolutely beautiful! This is one of the best investments I have ever made into music production. Not only is it a lot of fun to mess around with but the quality is incredible! It is great for adding backing string tracks into recordings or even live if we dont have a MIDI keyboard with us. Most instruments are okay. The strings tho make the entire app worth every penny and even more than its priced!

Theres a problem with the sliding notes when setting the mode to the same one the theramin uses. The pitch is going the wrong way when sliding your finger.

I know personally that polarpaul and crabjuice (two reviewers who have this app 5 stars) work for sonosaurus (the company that made this app) and I suspect many of the other good reviews are planted as well. That being said, i speak as someone who has actually paid money for this app and want you to know that it is falsely advertised. There are several instruments and many of them sound good, but if you come on expecting to actually record loops or make any beats or do anything beyond just playing the same scales on a collection of instruments, look elsewhere. The recording and loop creation works well while making the song, but after you save it and come back, the app plays each looped instrument from the beginning instead of where you started recording it, effectively ruining your song.

A friend showed me this app on his iPhone ... which was very cool ... but on the iPad, you almost feel like youre sitting at a keyboard. This app is incredible, and pretty revolutionary in how, just by selecting various musical scales, anyone without any musical training can basically create loops, base lines, etc., and jam to it without hitting a "wrong note". Like paint-by-number for music. You can tell a lot went into developing this app.

This IS the go to app for me sounds are great scales make its playability go way up on the list.

This product is of much fun and use for when I am away and just want to jam out. The samples sounds amazing and overall a great app.

I love this app.. But I would really love to see the new iOS 7 look built in. :)
